How dependent is the United States on oil from the Middle East?

Does anyone know the percentage of oil the US consumes that comes from the Persian Gulf area? How dependent is the United States on oil from the Middle East?
60% of US oil is imported, and 20% of that is from the Persian Gulf.

That'd mean about 12% of US oil comes from the Middle East. Much less than expected, but still enough that if we were cut off, it would rattle the economy. How dependent is the United States on oil from the Middle East?
Only 30% of the oil used in the U.S. comes from OPEC. Around 33% of the oil used in the U.S. comes from the U.S..

2005:

OPEC: 4,816(Thousand of barrels a day)

NON-OPEC: 5,310

U.S. oil: 5,178

we have 60year reserve-----we do not need foregin oil ----but they just wanna use their oil firist
Numbers doest matters but the truth is USA is very sick when Mid-east is on war. More job will cut off since oil price when up bullish the market and injured more on the transportation sectors.
The amount of Middle Eastern oil we consume is not really the issue. The world's market supply of crude oil is. The majority of our oil, like 66%, is imported, mostly from Canada and Mexico. If Middle Eastern oil was cut off, others who use that oil, like China and India, will be forced to use the same suppliers we use. This will cause an increase in the world price of crude oil, which is bad for us and everyone else. Whether we like it or not, or economy (petroleum based) dictates that we have to deal with those in the Middle East and make sure there is some sort of stability in that region.
contrary to the anti-administration party's assumption.. very little.

21% in 2006

(we recieve more oil from ALGERIA then we do Iraq...)
for 80% oil united states import from Middle 10% from other and 10% he produce from his own resources. for more information you can find at http://www.alkhaleejtoday.com/
Any amount is too much. I don't know what the percentage is, but I believe we need to eleminate any. We need to develop alternatives while using sources which are safe for our environment.
Check the dept. of energy website. It gives you all the information you need on US oil consumption and our oil imports
