What are the three most likely effects of decreased dependence on oil on the United States, your life....?

What are the three most likely effects of decreased dependence on oil on the United States, your life, and the life of any child you might have? What are the three most likely effects of decreased dependence on oil on the United States, your life....?
effect on USA: Using alternative sources will mean people having jobs building wind turbines or solar cells instead of pumping gas or working with dangerous nuclear fuels.

effect on me: I may have a hybrid or electric vehicle in the next few years.

effect on my child: My child may live near a train station or commute to work by bicycle, his house will be far better insulated than my condo (built in the 1980s) is, he will have few or no plastic bags in his house. What are the three most likely effects of decreased dependence on oil on the United States, your life....?
We would have to depend less on countries that don't like us. That's a big one. They have some power over us as long as we continue to get oil from them.

Lets face it, it would be better for the environment. We would be able to use cleaner forms of energy for powering our automobiles.

This is tied to the first one, but it would most likely improve our national security. We won't be giving money to countries like Saudi Arabia who sponsors terrorist groups. The large and vulnerable infrastructure that we have for oil would no longer be a huge target for potential terrorist attacks either.
1. We'll be less mobile so people will spend less time on trips and having fun.

2. We'll have less freedom because we'll be riding mass transit where we aren't allowed to eat, drink, smoke, or carry weapons.

3. We'll be less safe because we'll all be walking around and having to avoid cars.
Less chance of political involvement in the Middle East.

Less urban sprawl.

More of our income will go to food and less to electronic stuff.
Alternative energy is a joke. Before they represent anything it would need to be 2 million barrels per day.
