What can the United States offer Canada in return for oil?

If the United States were to make a trade agreement for oil from Canada, what would Canada likely want in return? What can the United States offer Canada in return for oil?
fair trade by honoring past agreements eg softwood lumberWhat can the United States offer Canada in return for oil?
M R is quite funny...

It is EASY to claim your country is better.when you are not called upon to be the police force of the world at every turn...to come to the rescue of the world when anything bad happens..Tsunamis..Earthquakes..whatever鈥?br>

In short..it is easy to claim you are superior when you are NOT a major player on a global scale..and are not ..time and time again..called upon the make the hard decisions....

Other than flying with the RAF during WW2, what, exactly, has Canada done for anyone else other than dispatch token military forces to non-combat areas.....?

**As a footnote to M R..You are darn lucky we existed when the world was at war and we were the difference...neutrals were no better than the Nazis as far as I am concerned...washing your hands of doing the right thing DOES NOT make you good in any way...
My first inclination is to say ';SNOWBOARDS!';, but I don't mean it disrespectfully. It's just that Canada has so many great places to board, as well as being a great place to visit and to live. I love Canada. What a clean, beautiful, peaceful country. If you haven't seen Vancouver, you haven't lived!
Statehood.
in return?.....what r u talking about.......we will just take it...its the american way!
A promise to not just take over their country since they don't do much anyway.
We can offer Canada George W. Bush.

And then he can bring Canada to the same heights as he brought America.
Seattle?
Surgical help with their beady little eyes and their flip-top heads!
How about some wheat from Kansas.
That we'll still defend them with our military. We actually have submarines that can submerge and helicopters that can fly.

We also agree to keep hockey alive with our American $$.

That should more than cover it.
Who knows. Canada needs the US more than the US needs that pile.
Lots of money....
that we all won't move there when the illegal immigrant population becomes too much to bear.
a handjob
Poor billtucker67 needs to reread his history. Proportionally, Canada has had devestating losses per capita in both WW1 %26amp; WW2. In case he was sleeping in his history classes, Canada joined WW1 in 1914, and WW2 in 1939, or maybe Americans, in their xenophobic history classes don't learn about other countries. In more recent decades, Canada has had a proud history of the armed forces being involved in peacekeeping, not warmongering.

I am appalled that anyone would expect the US to be the world police force. That's almost like letting the foxes into the proverbial henhouse.

As for the oil, as a citizen of oil-rich Alberta, I would be thrilled if the US would pay lots and lots and lots of money for our oil, and keep its nose out of the rest of our business. Goodness only knows that many Americans are woefully and proudly ignorant of not only Canada, but also the rest of the planet.
As a Canadian looking down upon the United states and their egotistical view on the rest of the world, I would have to say that the US is certainly not fair in how it treats others. They treat Canada as though it is simply another state, and yet we surpass the US in land mass. We supply the US with electrical power, softwood lumber, oil, gas, etc. we help them fight their wars, and still they take a ';holier than thou'; attitude with everyone. The Bush administration has corrupted the government, brainwashed its people into thinking that this ';war on terror'; was justified... when it wasn't. When they lost Bin Ladens trail, they turned to Saddam Hussein, and started a war that did not have to occur. Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction. The US feels the need to walk into a land that has been occupied for thousands of years, and impose the US's beliefs and government structure on it, to ';americanize'; it. I for one am PROUD to be a Canadian citizen, we enjoy low unemployment, free health care, beautiful pristine land, beaches, clean air, a history to be proud of, however I am truly ashamed to be physically associated with the United States of America, because one day very soon, someone will become fed up with their crap, and blow them off the map, and it will unfortunately include our beautiful land as well. Shame on you America... shame on you. Canada is a better country than the US could EVER DREAM to be.

*As a footnote to Mr. Tucker, we don't WANT to police the world, we are happy with letting those who live in their own countries do just that. You DO realize that if it weren't for the US instigating war after war... the world would be a lot more peaceful place. You can police the world if you want to... but don't make it look like a peaceful country like Canada is doing anything wrong by not helping you fight your battles. Grow up.

*2nd footnote to turner...

who won the battle of Vimy Ridge... who secured the point of antwerp... juno beach... and I could go on... we have and do fight in war... but we won't start one. That would be called instigation, but I am sure that you, as an american, know first hand the definition of that word.
